Manufacturing

The part of the process your ERP does not cover

For a company with several plants in Italy, the production lines are run from a terminal on the shop floor, on top of the AS400 that was already there. This is how we work in manufacturing: on the part the ERP does not cover, connected to the ERP that is there.

What software does manufacturing need beyond the ERP?

The part of the process the ERP does not cover: traceability, production progress, quality control, and the link between machines and the ERP. These are the things that still live on paper and spreadsheets, because the ERP was never meant to cover them.

Recurring problems in this sector

  1. Knowing where a batch is without calling the floor
  2. Making machines talk to the ERP without replacing the ERP
  3. Recording quality checks at the point where they happen
How we work here

After a first call, we come to your site to see how an order moves on the shop floor.

Frequently asked questions

How do you know where a batch is without calling the floor?
With traceability inside the software. We have done it with RFID: every batch carries a tag, and where it is can be read on the spot, without phoning the floor.
Can machines be connected to the ERP without replacing it?
Yes: you build the missing part and connect it to the ERP you already have. The ERP stays in place, and you add only what it does not cover.
When is custom software worth it beyond the ERP?
When the work on the floor follows rules of your own the ERP does not cover. For a company with several plants it was the priorities of the lines, which change several times in the same shift.
