One of the cornerstones of dotenv is working as a team, a goal that can also be reached through team working activities. To achieve the right harmony in the group, open discussion is fundamental first of all. It is important for the members of the team to be in tune, even in the liveliest moments of project discussion, so that everyone can be sure of having colleagues to count on.
What team working is
Unlike team building, which involves carrying out activities to create the group, helping the leader to manage the dynamics between its members and developing each person’s motivation, in dotenv’s case we talk more about team working. Here the people involved are already part of an established group, and so situations are created in which the primary aim is to work in synergy, developing everyone’s ability to come together, and bearing in mind that each person has their own character, a different way of communicating and their own goals.
A team that works, then, is precisely one that is able to pull together, working towards a common purpose, thinking in the plural and not of its own individuality.
The difference between a team and team working
In a company it is important to distinguish team working groups from teams in the strict sense: a team working group is made up of several people who work together to carry out a task according to a common goal, coordinated by a leader. In this case, performance is assessed on the basis of the performance of the single individuals.
A team, on the other hand, is a small set of people with complementary skills, focused on achieving a common purpose and various performance goals for which they are responsible.
The advantages and disadvantages of team working
Among the reasons why teamwork is important, we have to consider the foundations it feeds and reinforces: collaboration, communication, relationships, trust and motivation. Team working makes for a fair distribution of work, which also turns out to be more efficient, through the division of tasks and better respect for deadlines.
As with everything, there are also less positive aspects, real disadvantages. In the case of team working we can sum them up as:
- Greater difficulty in making decisions;
- A greater investment of time to create integration;
- Constraints and limits on the individual’s freedom.
- Difficulty in mediating between the points of view of the individual members, especially if they diverge
For all these aspects, communication between members is therefore fundamental, in relation to the goal to be reached, as is understanding the importance of counting on others, directing your own commitment towards a shared goal supported by a sense of belonging to the team, and improving internal relationships.
