The guide

How to choose the right software for your company

The practical guide linked to the Unconference: the most common mistakes, six steps for choosing, and a case told in full. It is a 2024 document and we are leaving it as it was, with the figures of the time. We will send it to you by email.

It arrives by email, as a PDF.

The Unconference (Awkward) questions FROM those who run a business TO those who build solutions

Wednesday 18 June 2025 | Confindustria Emilia Area Centro, Modena office

The event has taken place and is closed: this page remains as an account of what it was like. If we organise another one we will write about it on /en/news.

What is an unconference?

An unconference is an event with no running order, no official speakers, no pre-packaged slides.

Just people sharing ideas, experiences and questions, together.

The agenda is created on the spot, from the topics that matter most to the participants, for a real exchange of value.

Why take part?

Many companies choose standard software solutions because “that’s what everyone does”. Others consider custom development, but fear it because of costs, timescales and risks.

But which is the right choice for your business?

Company decision-makers, who are often not technical, need to understand through practical examples, so that they can choose the right solutions and grow their business.

So, is a standard or a customised solution better?

Who is it for?

The event is aimed at entrepreneurs, managers and company decision-makers, including non-technical ones, who want to:

  • Understand the pros and cons of the different software solutions
  • Exchange views with other entrepreneurs and experts
  • Make decisions that are more informed and strategic.

What do you take back to the office?

After the event, what really remains? You will not have slides, brochures or business cards (well, maybe those) but:

  • New points of view
  • Concrete ideas to apply in your company
  • Connections with people who share your same doubts
  • A fresh experience, an engaging one, in short, a conference… without the conference!

How does it work?

The rules for taking part in this unconference are few and simple:

  • Register
  • Check in on the day of the event and have a coffee (and a pastry)
  • Vote on the discussion topics and put forward ideas of your own
  • Take an active part in the sessions that interest you most.

But that is not all:

  • Whoever comes is the right person
  • Whatever happens is the only thing that could have happened
  • When it is the right time, we start.

The programme

9.00 am - Let’s have a coffee

Check-in and welcome coffee.

9.30 am - Introduction

We tell you how the format works, what to expect from the day and why today there are no spectators, only protagonists.

10.00 am - The Problem

We start from the common frustrations: why do standard solutions so often fail to really meet our needs?

11.00 am - The Needs

What do companies really need today? We explore the real requirements behind every technology choice.

12.00 pm - The Opportunities

What if there were an alternative? We open the discussion on scenarios that are more flexible, sustainable and customised.

12.45 pm - End of the event

Conclusions and goodbyes.
