Seven sectors we know our way around

Seven of the sectors we have worked in, from manufacturing to public administration. For each, the recurring problems and how we tackle them.

ManufacturingFor a company with several plants in Italy, the production lines are run from a terminal on the shop floor, on top of the AS400 that was already there. This is how we work in manufacturing: on the part the ERP does not cover, connected to the ERP that is there.LogisticsFifteen vans with hundreds of spare parts on board, and nobody knew what was on which. Five programs to request reimbursement for a business trip. They are two of the projects we have done in logistics, and they have the same shape: data scattered across tools that do not talk to each other.Medical and scientificThe medicine laboratory of a public university acquired tissue images at up to eighty zoom levels, and the tools it had could not handle them. Now lecturers and students look at them together on a platform we built.Auctions and proceedingsAn auction portal and a credit servicer work on the same assets and need different software. In the world of auctions and insolvency we have worked with both.Telco and digital servicesA telecoms operator went from 400 to about 2,000 customers, and voice traffic was still pulled out by hand into an Excel sheet. It is one of three projects we have done for companies that sell pay-as-you-go or subscription services, with those for a virtual server provider and for an e-invoicing service.E-commerce and marketplacesTwo marketplaces: one for scrap metal, between companies that sell, buy and transport, and one for pre-owned luxury goods, where every listing has to be checked before it goes live.Public administrationThe software we wrote for a public administration in Emilia-Romagna puts meetings in writing while they happen, with each speaker told apart. It runs on the organisation’s own infrastructure.
