Scrap metal was traded on the phone and closed on a spreadsheet, with no way of knowing who you were dealing with.
Who is on the other side of a trade
Zeggio Rottami trades scrap metal and wanted a marketplace that would connect supply and demand among the companies in the sector: sellers, buyers, factories and hauliers.
The condition, from day one, was being able to buy and sell only with verified companies, with an accreditation process and the tracking of transactions.
Certifications decide who can sell
Those who trade scrap metal work within rules of their own, and companies in the sector hold certifications that say what they can handle. Studying them decided the shape of the platform: without them, a scrap marketplace would have put up for sale goods that not everyone is allowed to buy.
What remains after an order
The marketplace is public and trades are tracked. At the end of each order the seller and the haulier receive a review, and that is what lets a company choose who to work with next time.
